Trader Joe’s All Natural Uncured Sliced Pastrami is not preserved, you must keep it refrigerated below 40ºF at all times, according to the front of the box. TJ’s is very serious about their deli meat. I’ve bought pastrami at my local grocery store before when I had a craving for it, but never really expected much in terms of flavor. I could have gone to the deli for better pastrami but that gets expensive fast! TJ’s Uncured Sliced Pastrami is the best pre-packaged deli meat I’ve tried. This pastrami is bold in flavor and in super small pieces. Pepper is the most prominent flavor. It’s very peppery at times. I like the little pieces, but when I think of sliced I think more of a sandwich style. The box gives directions on heating the meat up on the stove top or microwave, but I also like to eat it cold.
Here is my recipe for Pastrami Bites. These are great if you want something other than just a sandwich.
Ingredients: Beef, water, sea salt, vinegar powder, turbinado sugar, celery powder, sodium carbonate, cherry powder, spice extractives and natural flavoring, rubbed with natural spices, caramel, and garlic powder.
This is the best pastrami outside of a New York Jewish deli I have tasted And thrilled that I found it.Now I hear it is being discontinued. I have tried all the other pastramis that Trader Joes sells and they are all terrible. I guess I will have to shop elsewhere.

This pastrami was phenomenal. I found out today that Trader Joe’s discontinued it. I am so disappointed.

I bought some last week in Iowa. It was excellent! I would like to know if it can be frozen?
